When we get outside of Western Europe, most of us only know about countries with which we have had a close connection, or we’ve been at war with, particularly in the East: Japan, Korea, Vietnam. Australia and New Zealand are exceptions, probably due more to geography than anything else. Who among us can place Kazakhstan on a map? Myself, and a bunch of old friends have a bit of an advantage here. Stationed aboard the USS Midway, home ported in Yokosuka, Japan during the mid-1970s, we made frequent forays to the Philippines, where we had bases and got a lot of ship work done, and tourist visits to Hong Kong, Singapore, Korea and Taiwan for liberty call visits where we mostly played and occasionally got sick eating the local street food! Soon we would find out why we were there. Price includes shipping.
